Ever since Penny Johnson‘s film acting debut as Genevieve in Swing Shift (1984) with Goldie Hawn, she’s made quite a name for herself, mostly on the little screen. With mocha skin, dark eyes, and a truck-load of talent, she’s taken on series starring roles like Vivian Conway in The Paper Chase from 1984-1986, Beverly Barnes from 1992-1998 in The Larry Sanders Show, Kasidy Yates in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine from 1995-1999, in 24 from 2001-2004 as Sherry Palmer, in Castle as Captain Victoria Gates from 2011-2015, and Dr. Claire Finn in The Orville from 2017-2021, as well as playing Condoleezza Rice in the mini-series The Path to 9/11 (2006). Often credited by her married name as well, Penny Johnson Jerald, the star has also enjoyed her fair share of movie successes, appearing in supporting parts in a number of wildly popular pictures such as Lorraine Taylor in What’s Love Got to Do with It (1993) with Angela Bassett, as Maria in Molly & Gina (1994) with Frances Fisher, and as Laura Simon in Absolute Power (1997) with Clint Eastwood, and she was the voice of Serafina in The Lion King (2019). Very early in her career, the beguiling babe scored a part in another big-screen venture, The Hills Have Eyes Part II (1985), Wes Craven’s follow-up to his original classic thriller.
